Ombre Brows: The Healing Process
Ombre brows are becoming increasingly popular, and for good reason! They can add depth and dimension to your face and are a great way to enhance your natural features. Anybody with sparse, thin, patchy, or otherwise dissatisfying eyebrows now can get the exact shape they desire without having to start wearing makeup every day.
However, it’s important to understand the ombre brows healing process so that you know what to expect when you get the procedure done.
What Are Ombre Brows?
Ombre brows or powder brows are a type of semi-permanent makeup to create the illusion of fuller, thicker brows. A permanent makeup machine applies small dots of pigmentation to the top thin layer of facial skin (epidermis). The ombre effect is achieved by using two different shades of pigment color – one for the body of the brow and one for the tail. Unlike with microblading, powder ombre brows work well for all skin forms, even individuals with oily skin.
Powder Brows Healing Stages
There is some required ombre powder brows aftercare instructions and the healing process can take up to four weeks. During this time, you may experience some redness, swelling, and tenderness around the brow area. It’s important to keep the area clean and dry so that infection doesn’t occur. You should avoid sun exposure, sweating, makeup, swimming, long and hot showers, and other activities that might negatively affect the results.
Here’s a look at each healing stage:
Day 1: Your eyebrows will have a very bold color and will have very clear and defined lines. They will exhibit some redness and will feel tender to the touch. This is the beginning of your ombre powder brows healing process.
Day 2–4: Your eyebrows will initially appear darker, thicker, and fuller compared to how they looked on the first day. However, they will fade in color by about 40% over the next few days.
Day 5: You will start to feel an itch in your eyebrows. It’s imperative to not scratch or pick at the area, as this can cause your skin to break and you won’t end up with perfectly healed ombre brows. Powder brows scabs are unsightly, but the scabs fall off on their own if you are patient and trust the powder brows healing process.
Day 6–8: At this point, you will notice that your eyebrows will start to flake and itch a bit more. Again, do not pick at the scabs or scratch the itch as this can damage your skin and compromise the outcome of the shaded area.
Day 9–12: You will notice that your eyebrows will appear too light. There will be spots missing on your eyebrows as your skin heals.
Day 13–14: Your eyebrows’ color and definition return! At this point, your eyebrows will feel very natural and supple. Over the span of another two weeks, you will notice your eyebrows’ color become fully set. This marks the end of your powder brows healing period.
4–10 weeks: Once your brows are completely healed, it is time for your first ombre powder brows touch-up appointment to fix all the imperfections. It is necessary because everyone has a different skin type and heals differently. The touch-up session will last for 1.5–2 hours.
